So Thankful!!!

Encouraging words for Nadine
Today MDM and I have so much to be thankful for!  We spent the whole day together focusing on the girls, eating, and resting. It was a very different Thanksgiving not to be with family, but we were very happy to be together.

Since the girls have bili lights we did not get to hold them today. MDM took pictures of me talking to the girls through their individual isolets. I really just wanted to pick them up and hold them. I think that is the hardest part is letting go control and trusting the nurses and neo-natal specialists.  I am so thankful to be able to give them colostrum or "liquid gold" which is helping to keep them healthy. We pumped every 2 hours in the NICU today staring at the babies which doubled my production.  Mike was very supportive and sat by me making sure I did not fall asleep. I don't know why pumping, which is kind of uncomfortable, makes me want to fall asleep. We have withheld formula so the pressure is on for me to pump it up. (If the blog could have a soundtrack with it - ACD and I would start singing a song here.) Hopefully my milk will come in tonight or tomorrow so these girls can grow!!

The girls went on caffeine today which helps regulate their central nervous system. Apparently they take after their mom in loving caffeine (coffee straight black is my favorite) because they were very quiet and slept a lot today.
